Tigers handle Wolves 34-12

INDEPENDENCE – The Independence Tigers look like a team that is ready to make a run in the playoffs. The Tigers wrapped up the regular season last week with a nice 34-12 win over the Loranger Wolves.

Independence jumped out to a 14-0 first quarter lead and never looked back as thye picked up their seventh win of the season. Independence’s Offense did a good job all game long but their defense stole the spotlight in this game.

Independence limited the Wolves Offense to just 116-yards including only eight-yards rushing. Independence also picked off two passes and forced and recovered two fumbles in the game.

The Tigers Offense totaled 297-yards of total offense and scored thirty-four points. All was not lost for the Wolves as Loranger did pick up a berth in the Class 3A Playoffs despite losing to their rivals.

Independence enters the Class 3A Playoffs this week as the 7th seed and will play host to Jennings. If the Tigers win they will face the winner of the Cecilia versus Brusly game. If Cecilia wins they would come to Independence but if Brusly wins then the Tigers would hit the road.

The Loranger Wolves enter the playoffs as the 28th seed and they will travel to take on the defending Class 3A Champion Parkview Baptist Eagles in Baton Rouge. The Winner of the Loranger/Parkview game will play the winner of the Rayville versus Winnfield Game.
