Tom Voinche will lead Grand Parade Saturday
Tom Voinche, KATC TV 3 morning personality, has been chosen as Marshal for the 2009 International Rice Festival Grand Parade slated for the afternoon of October 17, 2009, as announced by Janet R. Hebert, president.
Thomas “Tom” Carver Voinche, Jr. was born in Crowley
in 1946. His parents, Thomas C. Voinche, Sr. and Anita Lee “Bootsie” Hoffpauir Voinche, were also Crowley natives and were the first to introduce Tom to the International Rice Festival.
Tom is a 1965 graduate of St. Edmund High School in Eunice and earned his B.A. and M.S. from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. His career in communication began in 1961 when he went to work for his father who was then general manager of radio station KEUN-AM in Eunice.
Tom’s nearly half-century of broadcasting experience includes announcing, commercial production, scriptwriting, news, sports, sales, management, ownership and consulting at various stations throughout Acadiana. In the late sixties and early seventies, Tom lived in Crowley working in radio at KSIG-AM and teaching school at St. Michael Elementary.
For the past 17 years, Tom has been working in the news department of KATV-TV 3 and is the co-anchor of “Good Morning Acadiana” which airs weekdays from 5 a.m. to 7 .am. Tom lives in Eunice with his wife Bonnie and dog “Tater.”
