Trick or Treat on Thursday

In order to prevent any traffic and safety issues associated with high school football games on Friday Oct. 31, all municipalities around the parish will celebrate Halloween festivities on Thursday, Oct. 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

As children across the parish are preparing for Haloween festivities, parents should be making safety preparations said Sheriff Ronny Theriot.

“Halloween can be great fun for our kids, but unfortunately there are people out there who may harm them. Being prepared is the first step in assuring all goes well,” Theriot said. “Make a plan for the night and talk to your kids about how to stay safe. You can make a difference.”

Theriot also issued a few tips for parents to consider.

•Be aware of sex offenders in your area.

•Never let children trick-or-treat alone.

•Only trick-or-treat if houses are well lit.

•Never let children enter homes without their parents’ permission.
