The Sacred Heart High School girls track and field team wrapped up a very successful season in 2008. They sent several players to the Class 2A State Track and Field Meet and found a couple of top 10 finishes. The young ladies had a lot to be proud of. Some of the athletes managed to set personal records and even school records while they were competing at the event in Baton Rouge at Bernie Moore Stadium.
The SHHS ladies nailed two seventh place finishes while at the meet. The 4-by-200-meter relay team of Lyndsay Schexnayder, Samantha Davenport, Hannah Enicke and Lauren Parrott took the seventh slot in their event. Parrot also pulled out a seventh place finish in the 400-meter dash.
Samantha Davenport has been running track for several years. She qualified for the state meet in the 300-meter hurdles. At the event, she pulled out a fourth place finish, which was quite an accomplishment. Furthermore, she set her own personal record in the event with a time of 48.22 seconds.
The SHHS 4-by-400-meter relay team of Allison Fusilier, Davenport, Schexnayder and Parrott grabbed the third slot at the state event. Not only did they finish high on the state level, but they also set a new Sacred Heart High School record. Their time of 4:14:44 puts a new standard at SHHS.
Congrats goes out to the hard working young ladies at Sacred Heart High School for their achievements at the state meet.
