Sacred Heart Track and Field Coaches Robert Soileau and Dutton Wall were very excited after the recent Class 2A Regional Meet at ULL. They were sending their hard-working athletes to compete in five events at the upcoming Class 2A state Track and Field Meet.

Five young ladies from Sacred Heart will travel to Baton Rouge today for state competition in four different events.

Senior Lauren Parrott will compete in the 400-meter dash. The tough runner took third at regionals. Samantha Davenport will face the tough competition in the 300-meter hurdles. She took third at the regional meet. The 4-by-200-meter relay team of Lydnsey Schexnayder, Hannah Enicke, Parrott and Davenport placed second in regionals. That team is competing today at state. The 4-by-400-meter relay team of Davenport, Schexnayder, Parrott and Allison Fusilier snagged the second slot at the regional and will compete today at state.

The only member of the Sacred Heart boy’s team to qualify for state was Cade McDaniel. The multi-sport athlete placed third in the 300-meter hurdles and will fight some stiff competition again today.

The SHHS athletes have a good chance to do well today. They have worked hard all season, and should be able to finish with good standings.
