CROWLEY - Two people were killed and two more injured after a three-vehicle accident on I-10 near the east Crowley exit 82 Saturday morning.
According to Crowley Chief of Police K.P. Gibson, a Isuzu Rodeo with three people was traveling east on I-10 when for unknown reasons it crossed the median into the westbound I-10 lane where it first clipped a GMC Sierra pickup before slamming into a Chevrolet Suburban. Two of the three people in the Isuzu were killed while the other passenger and the driver of the Suburban were both taken to American Legion Hospital with moderate injuries.
Chief Gibson said the identity of the people involved could not be released until notification of next of kin but he did say the Isuzu had Texas license plates while the pickup and Suburban both had Louisiana plates.
The accident took place during a driving rainstorm Saturday morning at approximately 6:30 a.m. Gibson said officers with the Crowley Police Department were assisted at the scene by the Crowley Fire Department, Acadian Ambulance Service and the Acadia Parish Coroner’s office.
