Two Mardi Gras masked men rob bank Monday

Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon reports at approximately 10:33 a.m. Monday morning his office received a call that the Bank of Commerce in Mermentau had been robbed at gunpoint.

According to Sheriff Melancon, two black males described as being in their 30’s wearing Mardi Gras type mask, black gloves and black hooded jackets entered the bank and demanded money.

Upon exiting the bank the pair left on a motorcycle that was later located just west of Silver Wood in Jeff Davis Parish near the graveyard.

Sheriff Melancon stated that investigators are presently following up on leads and are asking the public to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 788-8772 if you have any information.
