Unique high tea honors Miss Karris Johnson
The home of Douglas and Jacqueline Vincent of Erath served as the setting for a high tea held in honor of Karris Johnson, bride-elect of Jed Toups.
The couple was wed on Friday, June 12 during a 6:30 p.m. ceremony at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne.
The honoree is the daughter of Albert and Bonnie Johnson of Rayne, while the groom is the son of Joan Hodges Toups of Basile and the late Butch Toups.
Hosting the 2 p.m. courtesy were Maureen Alfred, Annette Melancon, Gwen Melancon, Mary Reggie, Kathryn Taylor and Jacquelyne Vincent.
Refreshments served for guests included English sconces, cucumber sandwiches, roasted bellpeppers sandwiches, brie in puffed pastry, havarti with praline sauce, petit fours, cocoon cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, mimosas, and hot Earl Grey tea.
For the high tea, the main and side tables were overlaid with antique linens and each held fresh flowers in tea pots. The registration table held pictures of the bride enjoying tea with her cousins from years past. The focal point was an enlarged toddler picture of the bride.
For the special occasion, the honoree wore an off-white and ivory A-lined dress with spaghetti straps and a beige and ivory feathered hat.
The bride’s mother wore an aqua and brown pants suit with an aqua straw flower hat.
The groom’s mother selected a white inlaid lace blouse with black skirt. Her hat had a floppy black styling with white trim.
Approximately 30 guests were in attendance from numerous points of Louisiana, in addition to New Mexico, Ohio and Kentucky.
Special guests in attendance were Rita Melancon and Matilda Johnson, grandmothers of the bride, and Margaret Frey, godmother of the groom.
