Upcoming Avec Souci Garden Tour benefits numerous charities
LAFAYETTE - The gardening season kicks off with the 25th Annual Avec Souci Garden Tour on Sunday, April 22 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Avec Souci member and Crowley local, Sue Golden, raised her children in Crowley and her first cousin is Crowley resident, Isabella Delahoussaye. Members Beth Fleuriet Jaschke and Paula Landry Dronet, also from Crowley, are graduates of St. Michael High School, now Notre Dame High School. Both also have family presently residing in Crowley. Their families annually attend the Garden Tour and they encourage the residents of Acadia Parish to attend.
Lafayette gardens featured on the tour are Mrs. Robert Trahan of 333 Wentworth Boulevard; Ray Menard and Carlton Smith of 522 St. Thomas Street; Mary and Dennis Smith of 142 Heartwood Circle; Sally and John Block of 929 Marilyn Drive; Renee and Herbert Schilling of 217 Parkview Drive.
Admission to all five gardens requires a $15 ticket purchased in advance or $20 on day of the tour, with proceeds benefiting numerous charities.
Avec Souci has returned over $110,000 in the past 24 years to community charities such as the Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic, Camp Bon Couer, Lafayette Special Olympics, UL Foundation Scholarships, Acadiana Outreach, Faith House, Sexual Abuse Center and Naomi House.
Tickets may be purchased through any Avec Souci member, Albertson’s on Johnston St., All Seasons Nursery and Landscape, The Gardenaire, Champagne’s Market, The Garden Center, and Native Sun, all in Lafayette.
