UPDATE (4:54 p.m.): Drivers in bus accident identified
As reported earlier Monday, a car and a school bus were involved in an accident at 7:14 am at the intersection of South Ave K and East Elm St.
The driver of the school bus identified as Rachel Hargrave was stopped at the listed intersection. Hargrave believed that the driver of the other vehicle involved slowed down to let her proceed, however the vehicles collided in the intersection.
As officers were investigating the accident, the odor of alcohol was detected from the second driver identified as Jerome Ardoin. Ardoin was tested for his level of alcohol and determined to be over the legal limit.
Hargrave was cited for failure to yield and Ardoin was charged with DUI.
In all 26 children were on the school bus. Three of the children went to a local hospital for minor injuries.
Crowley Police investigated an early morning accident on East Elm Street and South Ave K which involved a school bus and a car.
The accident occurred at 7:14 am.
Two children from the school bus went to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the bus was cited for failure to yield with an accident and the driver of the car was charged with DUI.
This accident is still under investigation and additional information will be released as the investigation is complete.
Names will be released when the investigation is completed.
The driver of a small car and two children were transported to the hospital following a bus accident Monday morning.
The wreck occurred at the intersection of Avenue K and Elm Street in Crowley at 7:30 a.m.
Acadian Ambulance, the Crowley Fire Department, the Acadia Parish School Board and the Crowley Police Department all responded and were at the scene of the accident.
