Ville Platte 10s get first round win

The Ville Platte Super 10’s got their winning ways going again in the regional. They defeated the Sabine Parish All-Stars by a score of 6-0 in the opening round of competition in Many at the Dixie Youth North Regional.

Ville Platte busted out early and scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jacob A. Lafleur got things going with a double off of the outfield wall. Nick LaHaye was hit by a pitch and Keaton Tate reached on a fielder’s choice to load the bases. A sacrifice fly to left field from Bevan Dupre scored Lafleur. A single from Jacob L. Lafleur pushed another run home, making it a 2-0 ball game. Later in the inning, John Christian LaHaye singled and brought two more runs home.

Ville Platte added to their lead in their next two at bats. Jacob A. Lafleur doubled again in the second frame. His two-base hit pushed Gabe Soileau across the dish. Soileau had reached base on fielder’s choice. In the bottom of the third inning another run came home for Ville Platte. Keaton Tate singled to get things going and Dupre walked. A single from Jacob L. Lafleur loaded up the bases for Ville Platte. Tate managed to cross the dish on a fielder’s choice that Dylan Fontenot hit into.

Ville Platte held on and won the contest. Jacob A. Lafleur picked up the win on the hill. He went the first three innings of the contest. He fanned five batters and allowed just three hits. Nick LaHaye got the save in the ball game. He went three innings, allowed just one hit and fanned four batters in his tenure.

The boys in blue and white took on West Monroe in their second game. That game and all of the others they play will be featured in Thursday’s sports section.
