Ville Platte bank robbed Monday

The Ville Platte Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man who robbed Hancock Bank there before 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8.

According to video surveillance and descriptions from bystanders, the suspect is a black male, approximately 6 foot tall, approximately 130 to 140 pounds wearing a black wind breaker type jacket, black cap, purple three button polo type shirt, and sunglasses.

The male subject approached a teller at Hancock Bank in Ville Platte and produced a note demanding money. While the teller began gathering the money for the suspect he became impatient and grabbed the money that was in her hand and walked out of the bank without further incident.

Ville Platte Police Lieutenant Craig Nicholas eports video surveillance tapes were obtained and evidence was collected for processing.

Chief Lartigue is asking anyone who may have seen someone fitting the description of the suspect to call 337-363-1313. He stated that any information may assist the police with the robbery investigation.
