Ville Platte High School participates in Jump Rope for Hearts
On April 8, fifth through eighth students at Ville Platte High School participated in the Jump Rope for Hearts fund raiser. The students had a great time jumping rope, while raising money for the American Heart Association, which funds cardiovascular disease research and provides public and professional educational programs. The students and teachers raised over $1,500, and the school received a certificate from the American Heart Association to purchase new physical education equipment. The students, Coach Amy Tate and Pam Fontenot thank the following sponsors for contributing to the fund raiser and helping meet the school’s goal: Slap Ya Mama, Ace Hardware, City Refrigeration and Ice, Ville Platte Clinic Pharmacy, Medicine Chest, Fontenot Physical Therapy, Price Office Supply, Dr. Craig Thompson, Senator Eric LaFleur, B&S Grocery, Soileau Industries, Dr. Mark Coreil, Dr. Chuck Monier, ISS, Rep. Bernard LeBas, Citizens Bank, Ville Platte Medical Center, Dr. Brandon Fontenot, Ville Platte Home Health and Wal-Mart. They also thank Jennifer Vidrine and Shountilez Williams for their help and support and DJ Sassy Linda Lewis for providing the music. Jennifer Vidrine, Pam McGee “Simon Squirrel” and Sharon Fontenot “Lucy Litterfree” were on hand to jump rope with the students and encourage them to continue jumping to raise money.
