CROWLEY – Services will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mowata, for Vincent Guidry, 91, of Lafayette. Mr. Guidry died on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Grand Cove Nursing Home in Lake Charles.
A rosary was recited by Ms. Ding Hoffpauir at 6:30 p.m. at the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley on Wednesday.
Burial will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Mowata following the service.
Visitation took place from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. on the morning of the service with viewing continued until the time of services.
Mr. Guidry is survived by four daughters, Shirlene Dugas and her husband Donnie of St. Amant; Nita Lynch and her husband Jack of Beaumont, Texas; May McCorquodale and her husband Bob of Lake Charles; and Nettie Henry and her husband Stephen of Lafayette; one son, Jim Guidry and his wife Karen; one sister, Eva Mae Denaille of St. Martinville; one brother, Neuben Guidry and his wife Jane of Lafayette; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Guidry was born on August 1, 1917 to Albert and Amyrre Leger Guidry of Church Point. He retired from Dwight W. Andrus. He was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Lafayette. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Elmae; two sons, Joseph and Raymond Guidry; his sister, Theresa Cormier; and six brothers, Ernest, Jack, Bill, Leo, George and Hilton Guidry.
Serving as pall bearers will be, Robbie Ellison, Greg Knight, Kenny DesOrmeaux, Reggie Ougel, David Dugas and Todd Jackson. Condolences may be sent to the family by www.duhonfuneralhome.com.
