Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 11, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mowata for Vincent Guidry, 91, of Lafayette, who died at 2:45 a.m. Sunday, June 7, 2009,
in Grand Cove Nursing Home in Lake Charles.
Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Mowata.
Visitation began Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and will continue Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of services at the Duhon Funeral Home in Crowley.
A Rosary was recited by Ms. Ding Hoffpauir of Crowley at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
He is survived by four daughters, Shirlene and her husband Donnie of St. Amant, La., Nita Lynch and her husband Jack of Beaumont, Texas, May McCorquodale and husband Bob of Lake Charles, and Nettie Henry and husband Stephen of Lafayette; one son, Jim Guidry and his wife Karen of Durham, North Carolina; one sister, Eva Mae Demaille, St. Martinville; one brother, Neuben Guidry and his wife Jane of Lafayette; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Guidry was born on August 1, 1917, to Albert and Amyrre Leger Guidry of Church Point. He retired from Dwight W. Andrus. He was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Lafayette. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elmae; his sons, Joseph and Raymond Guidry; his sister, Theresa Cormier; and his brothers, Ernest, Jack, Bill, Leo, George and Hilton Guidry.
