Violet Mae (Guidry) Leger
Church Point –– Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Violet Mae Leger, 71, the former Violet Mae Guidry.
Mrs. Leger, a native of Church Point and long-time resident of Bristol, died Saturday, January 28, at her residence.
Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc conducted the services with interment following in the Monsignor C.A. Bienvenu Cemetery on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include J.E. “Buster” Leger of Bristol, the father of her children; three sons, Mark Allen Leger and wife, Angie, of Opelousas, Brent Christopher Leger and wife, Linda, of Bristol and Randal Jake Leger and wife, Tammy, of Bossier City; six daughters, Amber L. Higginbotham and husband, Sammy, and Celinna L. Benoit and husband, Cade, all of Church Point, Sedonia L. Abate and husband, Thomas, of Carencro, Taminy L. Doucet and husband, Glen, of Bristol, Malana Badeaux and companion, Adam Soileau, of Rayne, and Medley L. Hart and husband, Scott of Rollett, Tex.; a brother, Herman Guidry of Church Point; three sisters, Mary Elise Daigle and Terri Zerangue of Church Point and Jeanette Daigle of Rayne; twenty-three grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Leus and Aline (Comeaux) Guidry; an infant daughter, Sondra Leger; and two brothers, Austin and Burton Guidry.
The family requested visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30, and continue from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the services.
A recitation of the Rosary was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday by her grandson, Brice Higginbotham.
