VP City Marshal runoff set
Ronald “T.” Doucet and “Blaine” Matte will face each other in a runoff election Tuesday, November 4, for the Ville Platte City Marshal position.
Doucet, who currently sits on the Evangeline Parish Police Jury, received 2,560 (45.57 percent) votes, while Matte gathered 2,441 (43.45 percent) votes. Michael Lee, who was appointed city marshal earlier this year, received 617 (10.98 percent) votes.
Matte visited the Evangeline Parish Courthouse after the results were announced and said he looked forward to the November 4, runoff and thanked voters in Ward One. He also asked that voters consider voting for him in the runoff, as he would be a real, full-time marshal.
Doucet was unavailable for comment at press time.
