Walton "Waldo" Thibodeaux
Funeral services were held Monday, July 27, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Walton “Waldo” Thibodeaux, Sr., 73, who died Friday, July 24, 2009, at 2:30 a.m. at his home in Rayne.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ruby Dupuis Thibodeaux of Rayne; two daughters, Debbie and Don Carrier and Roxanne Arceneaux, all of Rayne; one son, Joey (Walton, Jr.) and Connie Thibodeaux of Rayne; seven brothers, Julies, Loveless, Oran, Cleveland, Jr., and Curtis Thibodeaux, all of Indian Bayou, Winferd Thibodeaux of Lafayette, and August Thibodeaux of Judice,; three sisters, Irene Mayfeild of Indian Bayou, Mayble Himel of Tennessee, and Ruby Richard of Crowley; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; three god-children, Curtis Thibodeaux and Karen Gaspard of Indian Bayou and Nanette Cobb of Choudrant, La.; several nephews, nieces and friends.
Walton “Waldo” was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland and Mable Thibodeaux, Sr. of Indian Bayou; two brothers, Clifford and Ivin Thibodeaux ,both of Rayne.
Visitation was held Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and on Monday, from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
A Rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home chapel in Rayne.
Burial was in the Leger Cemetery in Indian Bayou.
Mr. Thibodeaux’s pallbearers were Tippy Touchette, Ryan Touchette, Don Carrier, II, Don Carrier, Curtis Thibodeaux and Walton J. Thibodeaux, III.
Honorary pallbearers, Gerties Cormier, Oran Thibodeaux, August Thibodeaux, Wilton Monceaux, and Dallas Thibodeaux, his last surviving uncle.
All who knew him will sadly miss Mr. Walton “Waldo” Thibodeaux, Sr.. He was a native of Rayne, and an Indian Bayou graduate of 1954.
He spent several years of his life working in the oilfields. Ten years of his life was spent running Leger’s Bar. Eight years he operated the South Rayne Water System, and he severed eight years in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
He loved spending time with family and friends.
