Ward One school tax proposal on Saturday’s ballot
By: CARISSA HEBERT
On Saturday, July 19, voters in Ward One will have an opportunity to approve a $21,500,000 obligation bond for 30 years.
This obligation bond will allow the construction of a new Ville Platte High School in Ward One and improvements at the Chataignier Elementary School.
Early voting, formerly referred to as absentee voting, was conducted last week at the Evangeline Parish Registrar of Voters’ office. There were no real problems reported during early voting, according to Registrar Lucas Buller.
The Gazette also received a flyer from a reader who believed it was misleading because it stated the plan cost $21,500. The plan will cost the district $21,500,000. The reader did not know who was responsible for the flyer, but they believed the public should realize the amount was misprinted.
Please remember to exercise your right to vote.
