Sand bags available in Crowley until 3 p.m. Friday

Via Crowley Police Department's Nixle alert system, Crowley Public Works announces sand bags will be issued until 3 p.m. Friday.

Residents of Crowley are eligible and must present a valid driver's license to acquire bags. A maximum of six bags will be issued per license.

Residents urged to take precautions

It’s no secret that summers in south Louisiana are unforgiving. 

In fact, it isn’t uncommon for a person to fall victim to a heat related illness while taking part in an outdoor activity that isn’t strenuous or unsafe in regular conditions. 

Schools open in Acadia Thursday

UPDATE: Rayne Catholic is confirmed to be open Thursday, Jan. 30

Acadia Parish public schools will be open Thursday, Jan. 30.

The following was stressed in regards to schools reopening:

- Absences will be excused if they are road condition related.

Fading ice helping roadways open

The Crowley Police Department has announced that the John N. John Bridge in Crowley has been reopened.

The police also urge residents to use extreme caution when driving even though ice is fading.
