Thirteenth Judicial District Judge John Larry Vidrine ordered Hazel Mae Williams, 35, 612 S. Fontenot St. (who is also known to reside at 122 Demoruelle St.), Ville Platte, the mother of three, to complete 25 hours of community service.

Williams was brought before the court because she failed to send her three children to school. At the time of her arrest, Friday, September 19, on charges of three counts of violation of the compulsory school attendance law, her children had already missed 10 or more days of school. All three attend Ville Platte Elementary.

After sentencing, he cautioned her that if this happened again, the consequences would be more serious, since she would be facing possible felony charges. “I want those kids in school,” he said.
