Wilton “Thib” Thibodeaux
Crowley—A Mass of Christian Burial for Wilton “Thib” Thibodeaux, 89, of Crowley will be celebrated on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, Crowley. Father Jared Suire will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home, Crowley, with a rosary being recited at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.
Mr. Thibodeaux passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 12:48 P.M. in a Lafayette hospital.
A native of Mermentau Cove, and a longtime resident of Crowley, Mr. Thibodeaux was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He served on Guam and in Newfoundland in Navy Construction Battalions (SeaBee’s), and was proud of his service. While on Guam, he was involved in surveying the property for Admiral Nimitz’s headquarters and living quarters. Mr. Thibodeaux loved to tell stories of his time in the Navy.
As a Lifetime Member of American Legion Post 15 in Crowley, Mr. Thibodeaux was a Past Commander. He was also a Lifetime Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Thibodeaux was the longtime owner and operator of Thib’s Machine and Welding, and even after retirement, he could often be found in the shop tending to business or lending a hand in the shop.
A longtime member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Mr. Thibodeaux lived his faith through his family. Lovingly known to his family as “Tan”, Mr. Thibodeaux’s greatest joy was caring for and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Laura Hebert Thibodeaux of Crowley; daughters, Dianna Breaux and husband, Ted of Mermentau, and Stella T. Peveto of Carlyss; sons, Gerald W. Thibodeaux and partner, Mark Stanford of Lafayette, A.J. Thibodeaux of Crowley, and Adam Paul Thibodeaux, Sr. and wife, Darla of Crowley; sister, Wilda Thibodeaux of Winnie, TX; brother, Enos “T-Boy” Thibodeaux, Jr. and wife, Lovinia of Winnie, TX; grandchildren, Nannette Dupuis and husband, Mervin “Dupe” of Carlyss, Theresa Thorne and husband, Greg of Carlyss, David Breaux and wife, Vickie of Mermentau Cove, Brad John Thibodeaux of Egan, Shelly Rae Bonnie and husband, Brian of Mermentau, Heather Monique Williams and husband, Jason of Carlyss, Victoria Claire Thibodeaux of Lafayette, Adam Paul Thibodeaux, II of Crowley, and Gavin James Thibodeaux of Crowley; great-grandchildren: Mallory, Austin, Ashley, Lee, Dustin, Dylan, Megan, Taylor, Tyler, Tanner, Grace, Brad John II, Mary, Hunter, Ayden, and Ally; sisters-in-law, Amy Thibodeaux of Lake Charles, and Elday Thibodeaux of Mermentau Cove; Godchildren, Carlton Leger, Glenn Hebert, and Mona Myers; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Proceeding Mr. Thibodeaux in death were his parents, Enos Thibodeaux, Sr. and Theoza Richard Thibodeaux; sister, Flossie Mae Stutes; brothers, Nelson A. Thibodeaux and Leo Thibodeaux; and great-granddaughter, Brandie Lynn Thibodeaux.
Serving as pallbearers are David Breaux, Brad J. Thibodeaux, Adam Paul Thibodeaux, II, Gavin Thibodeaux, Carlton Leger, and Glenn Hebert. Named as honorary pallbearers are Austin Thorne, Lee Breaux, Dustin Breaux, Dylan Breaux, Taylor Bonnie, Tyler Bonnie, Tanner Bonnie, Brad J. Thibodeaux, II, Hunter Williams, and Ayden Williams.
