Winnsboro UMC Youth Mission Team assists Rayne tornado victims recover

Members of the First United Methodist Church of Winnsboro spent last week in Rayne assisting three local families on Malvern Avenue recover from the March 5 tornado.

Arriving Tuesday afternoon, the young people accompanied by adults arrived at Centenary United Methodist Church where they stayed until departing on Saturday.

While here their meals were furnished by volunteers, including Indian Bayou United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Dot Jennings and Centenary United Methodist Church on Wednesday, the Rayne Lions Club on Thursday and Fezzo’s on Friday.

While here they constructed a porch at 709 Malvern Avenue, painted at 711 Malvern and secured a tarp and fixed a window at 709 Malvern.
