Wolves attend Euncie Tourn, district begins for Ladies

The Rayne High Wolves attended the Eunice High Baseball Tournament over the weekend finishing with a 1-and-1 tally, in addition to a tied ballgame during their three outtings.

In opening action, the Wolves and Mamou ended a 7-inning contest in a 6-all tie. Leading 6-4 in the bottom of the final inning, Mamou tied up the ballgame with two runs on three hits.

Recording hits for the Wolves were Quebedeaux (2), Keely (2), Dupuis (2), Menard, Abshire, Brussard and LeJeune (2).

On the mound for the Wolves were Meche Abshire and Delahoussaye.

Rayne collected a 15-5 win over Pine Prairie in their second game of the tournament. LeJeune collected the win on the mound for the Wolves recording four K’s, five hits and one base on balls. Hebert completed the game with six K’s and allowing two hits and one run.

Keely and Meche led the barrage of Rayne High hits with four each, followed by Quebodeaux (2), Thibodeaux, Menard, Abshire and Broussard.

In their final game of the tournament the Wolves fell to Jennings, 5-2.

The Bulldogs turned in a three-run sixth inning to go ahead and remain there for the win.

Among the four pitchers seeing action for the Wolves, Hebert was tagged with the loss.

The limited Rayne offense was led by Meche, LeJeune, Menard and Hebert.

Rayne High will return home today (Thursday) when they host Centerville during a 4 p.m. contest. The Wolves will host the annual Rayne High Round Robin on Saturday, March 16, at Gossen Memorial Park. District play begins for the Wolves on Tuesday, March 19, on a road game at Northwest.

Lady Wolves

The Rayne High Lady Wolves Softball Team hosted Church Point Tuesday afternoon, slipping by the Lady Bears for a 6-5 come from behind district win, a game that saw six lead changes.

The win placed Rayne another win in district tally at 2-1.

With Church Point holding a 5-3 lead in the sixth inning, Alex Peltier doubled to the gap, scoring Whitney Fontenot and Katelyn LeDoux to take a 6-5 lead and eventual final score.

Katelyn LeDoux collected the win on the mound for the Lady Wolves.

The Lady Wolves will host Eunice today (Thursday) in another district contest, followed by the Brusly Tournament over the weekend. They will get back to district play Tuesday traveling to Northwest.
