Wolves Ladies head qualify for Regional Track Meet

With the 5-3A District Meet title under their belt, the Rayne High Wolves, along with the Lady Wolves, reported to the Region II-AAA Track Meet last night (Wednesday) at Cajun Field on the UL-Lafayette campus.
The Wolve scored 146 points for a first place finish as district 5-3A champions, followed by second place Church Point (123), third place Eunice (87), and Port Barre, Northwest and Livonia.
Top finishers of last week’s 5-3A District Meet held in Church Point placed in the following events, qualifying for regionals:
Jalen Williams - 3rd place 100-meter dash in 11.29;
Van Myles - 1st place long jump 19-10, 2nd place triple jump 38-8, 2nd place high jump 5-6;
Peyton Larry - 1st place high jump 5-6;
Dannie Harmon - 2nd place javelin 138-4;
Andrew Broussard - 3rd place 400-meter dash 53.97, 3rd place javelin 137-9;
Lucas Daigle - 1st place pole vault 13-1;
Josh Peltier - 2nd place pole vault 10-6;
Payton Daigle - 3rd place discus 106-8;
Donovan Cormier - 1st place 1600-meter run 5:15, 1st place 3200-meter run 11:59;
Kevin Adams - 3rd place 1600-meter run 5:39;
4x100 Relay Team - 3rd place (44.76) Jalen Williams, RJ Buchanan, Charles Jones, Javon Cormier.
On the girl’s side, the Lady Wolves scored 92 points for a fourth place finish behind Eunice (153), Port Barre (113) and Northwest (99).
The leading point-getter for Rayne High was Nia Taylor who was named “Top Overall Athlete” of District 5-3A. She claimed 1st place in the triple jump (34-6), second in the long jump (16-3), and was a member of the second place 4x100 relay team (52.55) with teammates Tristan Mouton, Bretaisha Louis and Tanner Wilson.
Taylor Arceneaux was named “Top Field Performer” as she took second place in the discus (91-2) and third in the javelin (77-5).
