UPDATED: Monday shooting injures two in Rayne

Rayne Chief: ‘At least one more’ suspect is being sought in Monday night incident

RAYNE - Rayne police continue to investigate a multiple shooting Monday night that resulted in the arrest of a Branch man.
Police Chief Carroll J. Stelly said Michael J. Grant, 20, of 457 Dr. Parrot Ave., was arrested just hours after the shooting and has been charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Stelly said officers were seeking arrest warrants on “at lease one additional suspect.”
Two men, as yet unidentified by police, were reportedly shot in the 500 block of West B North Street at about 5:20 p.m. on Monday. Police arrived at the scene to find that the two had been taken to Acadia General Hospital in a private vehicle.
Multiple shell casings were recovered by detectives.
Both men were treated and released form the hospital that same night, according to Stelly.
No motive has been given for the shooting.

RAYNE - On January 22, 2018, at 5:20 PM, the Rayne Police Department responded to a shooting incident in the 500 block of West B North Street. The shooting resulted in two males being treated at an area hospital for injures. Both males were released that night from the hospital.
At 10:20 PM, officers arrested Michael J. Grant (20) of 457 Dr. Parrot Avenue, Branch for two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder. Chief Carroll Stelly stated that officers are seeking arrest warrants on at least one more suspect involved in the shooting incident.

Breaking Story - Rayne Chief of Police Carroll J. Stelly advised on January 22, 2018 at 5:20 p.m. that Rayne Police received a call of a shooting on the 500 block of West B North Street in northwest Rayne.
When officers arrived, they discovered that two male victims who were injured were transported by private vehicle to Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.
Both victims appear to have injuries from a firearm and are in moderate condition.
Detectives secured the crime scene and the investigation is continuing at this time.
No suspects are in custody as of this time as reported by Chief Stelly.
