Powerlifting team applauded by board

Iota may be relatively new to powerlifting, but it’s no slouch.
Case in point, it is now the American Powerlifting Federation national champions in the co-ed division, and its boys team a national runner-up.

Red carpet and all, the district’s Students of the Year from fifth, eighth and 12th grade were lauded with grand applause to open, and close, Monday night’s meeting of the Acadia Parish School Board.

New State Standards focus for committee

Among the few items in the Acadia Parish School Board’s committee meetings Monday night was a quick run-through of the proposed Louisiana State Standards that will be voted on by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education next week.
