Recent Rotarian of the Week was Jackie Loewer. His program guest was Jeff Willis, Athletic Director and baseball coach for LSUE. Willis gave an update on the plans to improve and update athletic facilities at the university. The total cost for the project will be $15 million and they have already raised $12 million for the renovations. The first and second phases will be to build new baseball and softball stadiums. Both will include turf fields and state-of-the-art facilities. The third phase will be building a performance center; the fourth phase will be a soccer field house and bleachers; and the final phase will be basketball arena improvements. He also gave an update on how the teams are performing: soccer and basketball both have done well and continue to do so; baseball and softball began in the last couple of weeks and are off to a great start. Willis strives to be a positive influence on the students and encourages them to be positive and productive members of the community, often reminding them to “wake up and win the day.”
Shown at the meeting are, from left, Club President Angelique Credeur, Willis, LSUE Director of Strategic Communication Travis Webb and Loewer.
