Cheryl Ann Dupont Fontenot
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Cheryl Fontenot, 56, of Jennings announces her passing from this life into the arms of angels on Oct. 7, 2016, while surrounded by loving family. Cheryl was born in Jennings to Calvin Lee Dupont Sr. and Elda Lane LeJeune on July 5, 1960. Cheryl worked as a caregiver. She loved to read, take cruises and vacations. Cheryl was a lifetime fan of the New Orleans Saints. Above all else, Cheryl loved to spend time with her family. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Cheryl is survived by her fiancé, Leonard John Fruge of Jennings; two sons, Jerry J. Fontenot Jr. (Rhonda) of Jennings and Houston Lee Fontenot (Arianna) of Crowley; three daughters, Christina Fontenot (Luke Cormier) of Hathaway, Jennifer Ann Fontenot of Charenton and Jessica Brown (Matthew) of Farmerville; two step-daughters, Hollie Evans (John) of Jennings and Kami Mallett (Mike) of Lake Charles; three brothers, Mark Dupont of Crowley, Malcolm “Moose” Dupont of Jennings, and Calvin Lee “Bitsy” Dupont of Midland; 24 grandchildren; as well as five great-grandchildren, plus one more on the way.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, Calvin Lee Dupont Sr. and Elda Lane LeJeune; her husband, Jerry Joseph Fontenot Sr.; her brother, Richard Dupont; and her sister, Natasha Patin.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Cheryl Ann Dupont Fontenot, 56, of Jennings will be held at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings on Monday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m. with Father Charles McMillin officiating. Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Sunday, Oct. 9, from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday at 9 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Mass. Cheryl will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery.
Carrying Cheryl to her final resting place in Greenwood Cemetery will be Cecil Gary Jr., Joshua Marceaux, Brennan Brown, Kurt “Daniel” Daigle Jr., Malcolm Dupont and Mark Dupont. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Daigle and Calvin “Bitsy” Dupont Jr.
