Cotton. The word brings up visions of endless fields of white polka-dotted plants. Or maybe of sack-dragging families handpicking the crop under the broiling sun.
Acadia Parish Courthouse Built in 1888
Acadia Parish was once a part of St. Landry Parish. After the Louisiana Purchase of 1803, St. Landry Parish extended from the Atchafalaya to the border of Texas.
Stephen Lambousy of Crowley touches the memorial to the B-24 Liberator — Roll Call” — in which his uncle, Harold Lambousy, was a crew member when it crashed near Nijkerk in the Netherlands after a bombing mission over Berlin in World War II.

Captured in history by the crash. Fixed in our memory for evermore by this memorial.”
In March of 1945, the German army was steadily being pushed back by Allied troops from the west.
In the June 22, 1901, issue of the Crowley Signal, it was reported that the lower floor of Dave Lyons’ new building, the Grand Opera House, was entirely finished and ready for occupancy.
