Detectives with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office are investigating the felony theft of a cell phone from inside the Dollar General, located at 3121 Evangeline Hwy. in Western Acadia Parish.

Walter Peat, right, CubSight Program coordinator for Louisiana, was the keynote speaker for the Tuesday meeting of the Crowley Lions Club. Peat, accompanied by his wife Melinda, former state director for hearing, speech and vision, recognized the local club for its efforts in child eye screening. Welcoming the couple to the meeting is Lions Club President Keith Frederick.
The Crowley Lions Club was cited for its efforts in conducting eye screening for youth through the statewide CubSight program.
Gordon Ray “G-Ray” Morgan, a Republican, is today announcing his candidacy for the District 4 seat on the Acadia Parish Police Jury.
The timber bridge on Deer Park Road is slated for replacement through the state’s Off-System Bridge Replacement Funding program.
