Alumni attend Rayne State Bank softball reunion
RAYNE - The first-ever Rayne State Bank Softball Reunion was held Thursday, June 20, at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café in Rayne.
Made up of players of the Rayne area, the Rayne State Bank Softball Team participated in tournaments during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Many of those same players attended the 2019 reunion held in Rayne, many not in communication since their playing days.
Also enjoyed were memorabilia of their playing days providing a unique decor for the special reunion.
Players in attendance were Clovis Boudreaux, Baverly Comeaux, Ervis Istre, Bobby Eddie, Jack Bonin, Raylin Alleman, Horace Richard, Calvin Abshire, Getty Benoit, Bubba Hoffpauir, Dale Meche, Dave Cook, Larry Menard, Louie Cook, Scotty Pharr, Kernis Credeur, Larry Bearb, Robert Comeaux, Horace Thibodeaux and event chairperson Ray Lantier.
Remembered on a special “Memory Tree” were the deceased team members, including Tommy Gilbert, Raymond “Bic” Guidry, Daniel Alleman, Butch Alleman, Rodney Credeur, Hubert Hoffpauir, Chester Romero and Melvin Badon.
Door prizes for the reunion were provided by Rayne State Bank, Tremar Foods, Clerk of Court Robbie Barousse, Tax Assessor Jim Petitjean, City of Rayne, Gabe’s Cajun Foods, Sterling Automotive and Margaret Bearb.
