First of six VA workshops held at Rayne location
RAYNE – Congressman Clay Higgins’ office hosted a veterans workshop here to help veterans with questions and casework regarding a variety of benefits.
The Rayne event was the first of six scheduled veterans workshops across South Louisiana. The planned events are reflective of popular demand following a veterans workshop in May 2018.
The workshop was held Monday, March 25, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Rayne Civic Center.
Representatives from Congressman Higgins’ office, Attorney General Landry’s office, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs, and Louisiana Workforce Commission were on hand to help veterans in the following areas:
• sign up for healthcare or explain what medical benefits may be available;
• file or check the status of a disability claim;
• apply for residence in a State-run veteran home;
• register for job search services; and
• learn about pending VA legislation in Congress.
All veterans or family members who assist veterans were invited to attend.
Over 50 veterans were in attendance for the helpful program with many questions answered during the local workshop.
