THE POST-SIGNAL / Steve Bandy
Rice harvest began earlier this month and is currently underway across South Louisiana. Cutting started in Acadia Parish on July 12 with the first field completed on July 17. Acadia Parish has about 435,000 acres planted in rice this year. Here a farmer dumps his rice from a cart into a waiting 18-wheeler. The truck will transport the product to an area rice drier before it is milled.
