Flag football (above) and soccer are among the more popular programs offered to Crowley area children at the Recreation Department. Flag football games are played Saturdays on the practice field behind Notre Dame High School. Soccer is also played on Saturdays at Bicentennial Park.

Josh Spell, left, manager of Fezzo’s Seafood, Steakhouse and Oyster Bar in Crowley, and Harold Fonte, right, curator of Le Presbytere in Church Point, were guests of the Crowley Lions Club recently. Spell spoke of progress on the new Fezzo’s restaurant planned to open in early November along Rice Capital Parkway. Fonte told Lions about plans for Church Point’s celebration of The Grand Réveil Acadien, or Great Acadian Awakening. Welcoming the two to the meeting was Patty Lawrence, past president.
