Rayne’s Marketplace this weekend, shoppers invited
The Rayne Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture and the City of Rayne will co-host the new quarterly “Rayne’s Marketplace” Homegrown and Handmade this weekend on Saturday, June 8, at The Depot.
Formerly known as the Farmers Market, Chairman Marietta Leonards-Sikat invites all vendors and shoppers to a new year of events to downtown Rayne between 8 a.m. and noon.
“All previous categories will remain, state Sikat, “including seasonal fresh vegetables, produce, plants and flower (produced by you and homegrown), prepared non-edible or edible products (prepared by you) and artisans (hand-made items).
The Chamber has reduced the vendor booth fee from $25 to $15 per market. Also, new rules and regulations and application form must be used. Copies are available at the Rayne Chamber office. The vendor booth space will remain 10x10 in size.
The re-vamped Rayne’s Marketplace will again offer BBQ burgers and pork steaks to be sold by Pastor Donny and His Crew.
Live music has been donated and provided by Mouton’s Accordions & Music, along with their students performing from 9:30 a.m. until noon.
A “Kid’s Play Area” will be provided from 9 a.m. until noon with games and planting seeds to take home and watch them grow, all hosted by Tractor Supply of Scott.
The Chamber will continue to provide concessions of soft drinks, coffee and bottled water.
Anyone interested in being a vendor at Rayne’s Marketplace, call or come by the Rayne Chamber office at 337-334-2332, 107 Oak Street to fill out an application, or contact Sikat at 210-667-7914. The application form is also available on the Chamber’s website at www.raynechamber.com. Deadline to participate in the June 8 market is Thursday, June 6.
Future markets scheduled for the 2019 season are September 14 and November 30 (Holiday Market). Details will be announced prior to these markets.
