Agnes Thevis Doucet

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota for Agnes Thevis Doucet, 97, who passed peacefully at her home in Iota on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019.
Fr. Jude Thierry, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will officiate for the services.
The family requests visiting hours Thursday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. A rosary will be recited Thursday at 6 p.m. by the St. Joseph Catholic Church Ladies Altar Society.
Burial will be in the St. Joseph Mausoleum.
Mrs. Doucet was born and raised in Mowata but has been a resident of Iota for the majority of her life. Along with her husband, Paul, she was a member of the American Legion, Iota IF club, Woodman of the World, Catholic Daughters of America, and 1st Derrick Camping Club before her onset with Alzheimer’s. She was also a volunteer as a “Pink Lady” at the American Legion Hospital in Jennings.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially when young children were involved. She also enjoyed playing bingo, pokeno, going to the casino, and fishing in her free time. She was a loving, compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. 
Mrs. Doucet is survived by two daughters, Theresa D. Caruso and husband Edward of Groveland, Massachusetts, and Lucy D. Tworek and husband Conrad of Ione, Oregon; five sons, Richard “Butch” Doucet of Iota, Wayne Doucet and wife Susie of Iota, Ronnie Doucet and wife Beth of Kenai, Alaska, Tony Doucet and wife Claire of Mowata, and Bill Doucet of Slaughter; 14 grandchildren, Eddie and Michael Caruso, Ben and Jennifer Doucet, Marie, Katie and Aaron Tworek, Krystal and Eric Doucet, Jim, Raissa and Josh Randall, and Tammy Bourgeois; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Peter “PJ” and Mary Thevis; her loving husband, Paul Doucet; and three siblings, Annie Hensgens, Johnny Thevis, and Joseph “Josey” Thevis. 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, Alz.org.
