Wallen Leger
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home for Wallen Leger, 83, who died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at 6:40 a.m. at Southwind Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Crowley surrounded by his family.
Mr. Leger was a native of Church Point and lifelong resident of Crowley. He spent 40 years in retail clothing with Heymann’s Department Store, Nichols Department Store and was an avid coin and baseball card collector. He also volunteered with the Civil Defense here in Crowley. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Fr. Matthew Higginbothan, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Thursday from 10 a.m. to service time. Mr. Leger will be cremated following the services with inurnment in Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date.
Mr. Leger is survived by his daughter, Shelly Arnaud of Crowley; three grandchildren, Amanda Lyn Arnaud of Branch, Yvette Nicole Petty of Lafayette and Heather Renee Arnaud of Crowley; and three great-grandchildren, Jay Jacobs, Colt Jacobs and Kamryn Petty.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Edesse Theresa Leger; his parents, Wallace and Nita Domingue Leger; and his son-in-law, James “Sonny” Arnaud.
