Ruby Lee Wright
Ruby Lee Wright, 69, was born Feb. 2, 1950, in Crowley, to the late Robert Francis and Annie Mae Harmon.
A native of Crowley, she was an active member of Bethel C.M.E. Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, youth director, and CYF director.
She was a graduate of Ross High School in the class of 1968. She graduated from Southern University in 1972. She later attended McNeese State University.
Ms. Wright was an educator and tutor for 31 years. She was a prolific writer and speaker.
Ms. Wright retired from Jeff Davis School Board where she taught and coached drama, debate, speech and English classes. With her guidance, her students achieved many top awards, top scholarships, and achievements.
She joined Southern University Alumni Federation of Teachers and Jeff Davis Retired Teacher Association. She served as chairperson for the Black History Program and other community programs. She assisted in creating, organizing, and overseeing pageants and celebrations.
She entered into eternal rest on Nov. 4, 2019, in Lake Charles.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, two daughters, Yolanda (Alan) Fountain and Clydelynn (Coty) Mitchell; three sisters, Bettye Marshall, Sheila Poullard and Judy (Carl) Mouton; four grandchildren, Allison Fountain, Caleb Mitchell, Madison Fountain and Cameron Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Clyde Spencer, Harvey Nero and Harold Nero; and one sister, Alberta Spencer.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, at Bethel C.M.E. Church, located at 320 W. Hutchinson St. in Crowley.
Pastor Charles Rochester will officiate the funeral at 11 a.m.
Ms. Ruby Wright will be laid to rest in West Crowley Cemetery under the direction of James Funeral Home.
Keith “Rub” LeBlanc
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 3 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley for Keith “Rub” LeBlanc, 41, who passed away on Monday, Nov. 11, 2019. at 11:11 p.m. at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette.
Pastor Austin Spell, pastor of Victory Gospel Lighthouse Church in Jennings, will be officiating for the services.
Burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Friday at 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A Rosary will be recited by his godmother at 7 o’clock in the evening in the funeral home chapel. Visitation will resume on Saturday at 8 a.m. until time of services.
Keith was a wonderful husband, father, and poppa. He truly had a love for baseball, and working on the boats.
Keith was a hero by being an organ donor who was able to give the great gift that helped and will help many in need of a donation.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Tiffany W. LeBlanc of Crowley; two sons, Tyler Welch and fiancé Gabrielle Ardoin of Beaumont, Texas, and Trevor LeBlanc of Crowley; one daughter, Mallory LeBlanc and T.J. Mire of Crowley; his grandson, Jackson Welch of Beaumont, Texas; his mother, Sharon Walling of Estherwood; four sisters, Kayci and husband Bobby Longon of Estherwood, Raschelle and husband Derrick Elkins of Iota, Brittany and husband Tawanski Carter of Schriever, and Kimberly Trahan and Robbie Saulters of Houma; one brother, Kevin and wife Amy LeBlanc of Gray; his mother and father-in-law, Lora and Calvin Welch of Crowley; one sister-in-law, Crystal Miller and LeRoy Portalis of Crowley; his godchildren, Mercedes, Landon, Taylor, Aliyah, Dylan and Wyatt; several nieces and nephews that he loved very much.
Keith was preceded in death by his father, Aubrey J. LeBlanc Jr.; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
