Ala Frances Miller

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, at 10 a.m. at Estherwood Memorial Cemetery for Ala Frances Miller, 69, who died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, surrounded by her son and brother at her home in Chino Valley, Arizona.
Rev. Larry Evans, pastor of Parkerson Avenue Baptist Church, will officiate for the services.
The family requests visiting hours Friday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m..
Mrs. Miller spent much time with her church, working at the Food Bank in Chino Valley and sitting with church members who needed her assistance. She was also involved in local animal rescue efforts and enjoying her time outside in her garden.
Mrs. Miller is survived by one son, Rodney Miller and wife Jennifer of Mesa, Arizona; two grandchildren, Noah Miller and Cameron Miller, both of Mesa, Arizona; two sisters, Patricia Picard of New Iberia and Darlene Lancon of New Iberia; and one brother, Douglas Magee of Crowley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney J. Miller Sr.; her parents, William and Helen Bodin Magee; and one sister, Sylvia delaHoussaye.

Investigation continues into Aug. 18 drive-by

The Crowley Police Department is continuing to investigate a drive-by shooting that occurred in the 300 block of North Western Avenue.
The incident occurred at about 2 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18.
According to investigators, witnesses reported that occupants of a car travelling along Western Avenue fired several times at another car, striking the second car at least once. That car was later found at a different location.
The unknown suspect(s) fired multiple rounds into several homes and vehicles in the area, according to police reports.
A juvenile inside one of the homes was shot while she was sleeping. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she received treatment for her injuries.
It is believed she was not the intended target.
Anyone with any information regarding this crime is urged to call the tips line at 789-TIPS / 789-8477 or download the P3 app on a mobile device to report tips anonymously.
All callers will remain anonymous and can receive up to a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest in this case.
