Iola Johnson Leger

RAYNE - Funeral services for Mrs. Iola Johnson Leger, 89, of Lafayette, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at 2 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home Chapel, Rayne.
Deacon Tommy Adams of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery No. 2 Mausoleum, Rayne.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home Chapel, with a rosary being prayed at 1:30 p.m.
Mrs. Leger passed away on Monday, Nov. 26, at her Lafayette residence.
Survivors include her daughters, Victoria Ann Leger Sonnier and husband Larry of Lafayette and Constance Marie Leger Abshire and husband Percy of Groves, TX; brother, Thomas Johnson Jr. and wife Cassie of Rayne; grandchildren, Karen Sonnier Demette and husband Randy of Lafayette, Kurt Joseph Sonnier and wife Jonnie of Crowley, Stephanie Abshire Chamberlain and husband Brad of Spring Branch, TX, and Christopher Abshire and wife Angela of Orange, TX; great-grandchildren, Frankie Sonnier Roche and husband Logan of Rayne, Farrah Rae Sonnier of Crowley, Chandler O’Neil of Huffman, TX, Adam James Demette of Lafayette, Andrew James Demette of Lafayette, Lauren Gayre of Dallas, TX, Cody Gayre of Spring Branch, TX, Kaylin Abshire of Orange, TX, Molly Abshire of Orange, TX, and Chloe Abshire of Orange, TX; and great-great-grandchild, Charlee O’Neil of Huffman, TX. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Mrs. Leger in death were her husband, Paul Boyce Leger; parents, Thomas Johnson Sr. and Marie Prejean Johnson; sisters, Mildred Martin, Verna Zaunbrecher and Martha Gilbert; and brothers, Glady Johnson, Flemon Johnson and Jasper Johnson.
