RAYNE - A nuptial Mass on Saturday, March 11, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church united in marriage Mayci Layne Gonzales of Scott and Alex Lake Higginbotham of Church Point.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Gonzales of Scott and Brandi Meche of Rayne. Her grandparents are Harold and Marti Gonzales of Crowley, Robert and Lisa Cline of Scott, and Elmo and Jackie Meche of Rayne.
She is a 2011 graduate of Rayne Catholic Elementary, received her high school diploma in 2015 from Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish, attained her college diploma from Louisiana State University at Eunice in general studies and is employed by Blueline Manufacturing as a documentation technician.
The groom is the son of Jason Higginbotham of Church Point and the late Chasity Richard. His grandparents are Charles Richard, Shelia Carrier, Clinton Higginbotham and Carolyn Higginbotham, all of Church Point.
He is a 2016 graduate of Church Point High School and is employed by Blueline Manufacturing inspection department.
Officiating for the double-ring ceremony were Father Mitchell Guidry and Deacon Tim Ledet. Scriptures were recited by Alison Matte and Denise Kartsimas.
Against a background of musical selections provided by pianist/vocalist Denise Melancon and trumpeteer Wil Greene. The bride was escorted by her father, Neil Gonzales.
For her wedding day, the bride was radiant in a modern-style wedding gown of unique stretch crepe fabric featuring narrow straps and a higher neckline with added sleeves that changed the entire look of the gown. The dress was completed with crepe-covered buttons spanning the entire backside flowing into the chapel-length train.
Her headpiece included a hair clasp featuring sparkling marquise-cut simulated diamonds in laden branches holding a chapel-length veil of sheer illusion, while holding a bundle of 24 long-stem white roses.
Traditional items selected by the bride for her wedding day was her grandmother’s rosary intertwined in her bouquet as something old, her wedding dress was something new, her stepmothers’s bracelet served as something borrowed and her garter as something blue
Blair Daigle, the bride’s godmother, attended the bride as matron of honor, while a dear friend, Maegan Swacker Morgan, was her maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were friends Madeline Colligan, Madeline Bellard Saucier, Kennedy Roy, Elizabeth Ledet Johnson, Shelby Matte Treme, and Riley Higginbotham, sister of the groom.
Junior bridesmaid was Eleanor Link, niece of the bride.
Serving as flower girl was Cynthia “CeCe” Daigle, niece of the bride. She was escorted by the ring bearer, Gunner Gonzales, godchild of the bride.
Attending the groom as best men were Janson Matte, cousin of the groom, and Collin Latiolais, a friend.
Groomsmen were John-Wyatt Treme and Claiton Johnson, friends; Dylan Gonzales, brother of the bride; Lane Latiolais, Zach Bergeron and Jacob Morvant, friends of the groom.
Junior groomsmen were Caleb Gonzales and Slayd Richard, brothers of the bride.
Ushering guests were Grant Abshire and Christian Morgan, friends of the groom, Karter Daigle, godchild of the bride, and Jon-Reggie Daigle, nephew of the bride.
Immediately following the wedding ceremony, the newlyweds were honored during a wedding reception held at The Crossing at Mervine Kahn in Rayne.
Among the decorations noted in the historic reception hall were white rose centerpieces, in addition to candles, greenery, silver light-up cowboy hats and light-up letters.
A white rose photo backdrop was provided for the guests, in addition to personalized signs, a memory table and great music to dance the night away.
In addition to the refreshments provided for the family members and guests in attendance from points of Louisiana and Texas, the bride’s cake was a three-tier white confection designed with unique pleats with bundles of white roses.
The groom’s cake was a LSU Tiger eye confection with a LSU helmet. The table also held a National Championship article with pictures of the bride and groom at the game.
Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple is making their home in Scott.
Prior to the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was held Thursday, March 9, at the home of the bride’s grandmother. Hosts for the event were Denise and Jamie Kartsimas and Lisa and Robert Cline.
Timmy and Jessica Stelly catered a delicious meal of brisket, rice dressing, green beans, pork-n-beans, pasta salad and a large selection of desserts.
