THE POST-SIGNAL / Claudette Olivier
Top left, signs are posted as work to re-surface Louisiana Highway 35 between Rayne and Branch is now underway. There will be phased roadway closures to vehicular traffic now until Thursday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m., weather permitting. The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is advising motorists who do not live along La. 35 to take alternate routes. Bottom, dust flies as workers from Glenn Legé Construction of Youngsville and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development use heavy equipment to begin the process of replacing drainage structures along the roadway. This structure is located just south of the intersection of La. 35 and Bunker Hill Road. Top right, cuts like this are being made in the roadway to remove the old drainage structures. In addition to the installation of the new drainage structures, the project (from La. 98 north to its intersection of La. 365) will include milling asphaltic concrete, pavement patching, asphalt concrete overlay, striping and other road-related work.
