Sunflowers are in bloom in a field just south of Mowata, and the hives of bees, at back, are likely taking full advantage of the flora in the field. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, honey bee pollination alone adds more than $18 billion in value to agricultural crops annually.

Hudson and Eli Lormand held a cookie and lemonade sale in Atwood Akers to benefit dog rescues. They donated to Precious Paw Prints Rescue so they pay for surgery on a dog that had been hit by a car. Receiving the donation is Jamie Amie, director of PPPR. Precious Paw Prints is a rescue based out of Crowley that helps many local homeless pets.
