Weather washes away bridge in western part of parish
The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office is doing everything it can to keep motorists off the road and particularly away from Riverside Road in Acadia Parish.
Located in the western part of the parish, the road is one of many in the area to experience flooding issues. So much so that APSO has sent out Nixle and media alerts acknowledging that the bridge at Riverside Road and St. Jules has been washed out. Specifically, the bridge is out "and floated off into the woods."
Motorists are advised to take alternative routes and use extreme caution if they must leave their homes.
According to local meteorologists, over the past 12 hours, portions of Acadiana experienced roughly 10 inches of rain, specifically over the western to northwestern portion of the parish.
A flood warning remains in effect for Acadia Parish until 10:30 a.m. today (March 30).
