Local Learning Center awarded $5,000 grant

Banks partner for donation

First National Bank of Louisiana and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) recently awarded a $24,000 grant to Empowering the Community for Excellence in Crowley.

Michael Tipton, president of the Blue Cross / Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation, presents a ceremonieal check in the amount of $25,000 to Audry Spencer, founder of Empowering the Community for Excellence Wednesday afternoon. Spencer recently was recognized as one of 10 Blue Cross / Blue Shield Angels “doing extraordinary good for the state’s children.”

Angel award presented

A near-overflow crowd was in attendance Wednesday for the ceremonial presentation of a grant from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation to Empowering the Community for Excellence.<

Through a three-for-one grant program through Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas, First National Bank of Louisiana helped Audry Spencer’s brainchild Empowering the Community for Excellence receiving $16,000 Monday. First National Bank, Federal Home Loan Bank team up to help ETCFE

While the center itself was closed and many were off celebrating Mardi Gras, Audry Spencer was at the tutoring center she helped build from the ground up several years ago.
