A+Campus to distribute supplies next week

Students enrolled in virtual classes must report to home school

With the Sept. 8 target date for the opening of public schools in Acadia Parish, Superintendent Scott Richard has released details on the A+Campus virtual program being offered here.
The Acadia Parish School System has sent out a memo in reference to the recently developed A+Campus, a totally virtual program created in response to the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic.
Students who have enrolled in Acadia Parish’s virtual program must visit their home school — the original APSS school they would attend in person — in order to complete an enrollment packet and pick up electronic devices provided by the school district.
During the week of Aug. 31 - Sept. 4, the school that a student would normally attend in-person will be distributing Chromebooks to all those enrolled in A+Campus. Home schools will communicate specific pickup dates and times in the coming days.
The district anticipates providing the following:
• Chromebook or Chrome Tablet (depending on grade level)
• Login credentials for Edgenuity Platform
• Workbooks and/or course guided notes are being printed and will likely be available during this timeframe
• A+Campus contract
• Chromebook contract
• A+Campus Flyer with information about the Virtual School Lab (tutoring/assistance)
Any parent with a student already enrolled in the virtual program is advised to check email account provided to the district.
An initial A+Campus Preview narrated slide show will be emailed to provide an overview of the program. A second, more comprehensive orientation video will be sent the week of Aug. 31 – Sept. 4.
In addition, in an effort to keep everyone informed, the APSS has created an A+Campus Remind that will send text messages directly to cell phones and/or email addresses. Sign up by texting @4gae6e to 81010.
Parents can visit the A+Campus website for the most up to date information or reach out to acampus@acadia.k12.la.us with any questions or concerns.
Anyone wishing to opt out of the A+Campus, is urged to notifying APSS at 337-783-5817 or email them at acampus@acadia.k12.la.us as soon as possible.
If an individual is unable to pick up an Acadia Parish School Board device at the designated home school on the assigned day, parents/guardians may contact the school to make arrangements to pick up the device. However, a school board-issued device is not necessary for a student to begin participating in the A+Campus.
Students may access the Edgenuity Platform from any device currently in a household once credentials are provided.
Parents of students that were not enrolled in an Acadia Parish school last year but are interested in participating in the A+Campus, should call the school for which they are zoned to register. Once the child has been enrolled into an Acadia Parish school, he/she will be eligible to receive a device for A+Campus.
Any parent with questions or concerns is urged to contact the A+Campus staff.
In regards to meals, A+Campus students will be offered breakfast and lunch through a weekly Grab and Go process. More information about meals and pickup schedules will be provided in the coming days.
