Rice Festival Door Decorating Contest entries sought

The Crowley Garden Club has announced that it will once again be holding its Door Decorating Contest in conjunction with the International Rice Festival.
In order to qualify, the decorations must include rice. The design may be as simple as a wreath or swag so long as rice is incorporated.
The club will provide a sheaf of rice to any participants who need it.
The contest is city-wide and open to both residential and business entries.
There is no required theme, but incorporation of this year’s Rice Festival theme – Rice . . . The Superhero of Grain – will be taken into consideration.
Ribbons will be awarded for first through third places, with the first place winner receiving a $50 cash prize.
The deadline to enter is Friday, Oct. 12, and judging will begin at noon on Monday, Oct. 15. Winners will be announced as soon afterwards as possible.
To enter, e-mail your name, address and whether you need a sheaf of rice to crowleygardenclub@gmail.com or call Saja Hoffpauir at 296-5021.
