Rice Capital Juried Art Competition set during July
The Crowley Art Association has announced that the 30th Annual Rice Capital Juried Art Competition will be held from July 1 to July 31 at The Gallery.
The purpose of the contest is to give local and area artists and craftsmen an opportunity to have their original work judged by professional jurors and given recognition.
Adults 18 and over, teens 13-17 and children 12 and under are eligible to participate.
Categories to be judged will include landscapes/seascapes, decorative, portraits/figures, photography, still life/floral, crafts, animals/wildlife, all other and experimental. Cash prizes will be awarded for Best of Show and First, Second and Third Places. Honorable Mention winners will receive ribbons.
Exhibit days will be from July 1 to July 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
All entries must be original recent work controlled by the artist only (no workshop paintings allowed). A maximum of five pieces may be entered. Entry fees are set at $20 per entry for adults and $10 per entry for teens and children.
All work must be properly framed for hanging using wire hangers only. Teens and children may use frames and mats. Maximum size is 4 feet by 4 feet. All work must remain on exhibition for the duration of the show.
A closing reception and award ceremony will be held on July 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The reception is for all artists participating in the competition.
