This past weekend, members of the International Rice Festival Association attended the 89th Annual Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals Convention held at the Crown Plaza in Baton Rouge.
LAFF kicked off on Thursday evening with their Taste of Louisiana. IRF showcased a delicious rice dressing, tasty Rice Krispy Treats with green sprinkles and red rice Martinis featuring J.T. Meleck Vodka.
Over the four-day celebration, alongside many other fairs and festivals, the group attended a trade show, the 2020 LAFF Queen’s Contest and a number of informational seminars.
On Saturday evening, marketing awards were presented in four divisions.
The International Rice Festival received the following awards in Division Four:
• Best Website;
• Best Brochure; and
• Festival of the Year.
This marked the third consecutive year that the Crowley festival has come home with the prestigious Festival of the Year honors.
“This Festival of the Year award is for everyone who has worked tirelessly to make this festival what it is today”, said Shanna Monk, festival coordinator. “Along with the sponsors and volunteers, the board of directors is dedicated to the betterment of this festival.
“It takes great leadership — and we have just that.”
The IRF will soon be announcing its 84th president and sponsorship opportunities.
